How secure is your computer?

Is your antivirus up to date? Is your WiFi network set up securely, or is it wide open?

I have lost count of the number of home users and small / home business people who have told me that they are too small to be of any interest to the cybercriminals. Large amounts of information can be gathered two ways—breach one large database or breach lots of individual computers. The FBI is more likely to get involved in the large breach. So you are the safer target. Also botnets work by taking over large numbers of computers. These botnets can be sending out spam, attacking websites for hire and sending out malware to other computers. Your personal information is money for these criminals, and your computer, as a member of their cyber army (botnet) earns them money. So why wouldn’t they be looking for people just like you, who have their defenses down because you are too small to bother with.
